Moikom ZEQO
BIOGRAPHY

Writer and archaeologist Moikom Zeqo (b. 1949) was born
in the ancient port city of Durrës (Lat. Dyrrachium)
and studied in the Faculty of History and Philology at the University
of Tirana. He worked for the Museum of Archeology in Durrës
as well as for the Classical and Mediaeval Art Division of the
Academy of Sciences and is currently director of the National
Museum of History in Tirana. His intellectual verse has been
inspired in good part by the lost grandeur of his ancient Dyrrachium.
Among his verse collections are: Brenda vetes, Tirana
1974 (Inside oneself); Libër i hapur, Tirana 1986
(Open book); Njëqind zemra, Tirana 1989 (One hundred
hearts); Meduza, Elbasan 1995 (Medusa); and Zodiak,
Tirana 2000 (Zodiac). Zeqo has also published numerous monographs
and articles on Albanian history, mythology, literature and culture. |
